week 4: Seven Things You Should Know about Creative Commons

The article linked to the title above tells important information about Creative Commons. I find it quite interesting that it is tauted as a time saver for teachers and education as it will decrease the amount of time spent to find material, request permission for use of materials that have a copyright, and reduce the time spent attempting to justify using certain materials under Fair Use. It can certainly aid those educators that want to include up-to-date materials in their classroom without the hassle with those never-ending permission issues.

Check it out!

  1. Donna,

Thanks for sharing the article with us. I would like to share this with some of the teachers that I work with. Many of my fellow teachers just kind of ignore copyright all together, because they feel they won't get caught or it would take too much time to actually get permission. Maybe if I can show them how easy it is to use Creative Commons then maybe they will start to see the light. I think it is important to model the appropriate use of copyrighted materials in the classroom, otherwise our students won't see the importance.
